A. Qualifications of an Organization, Agency or
Firm to be a Full Member
Membership in the GSDI Association as a "full member" is open to
organizations and institutions with programs and missions consistent
with the purposes of the GSDI Association and may include
- national, regional (multi-nation), and international government
agencies and government organizations,
- national, regional (multi-nation), and international industry
organizations and private companies,
- national, regional (multi-nation), and international academic
organizations,
- national, regional (multi-nation), and international professional,
membership and other not-for-profit organizations, and
- similar organizations that are strongly affecting the development
of spatial data infrastructures at the national, regional (multi-nation),
and international levels.
(Examples: Many private companies have both national and
international markets and are affecting SDI developments at national
and international levels. Although its jurisdiction is not national,
the North-Rhein Westphalia Mapping Agency is strongly affecting
government SDI activities at the national level in Germany. Many
universities have national and international influence as well as
national or international student bodies.)
Note: If your organization does not qualify for “full member”
status, please see the qualifications for
Associate Member
.
Organizations or institutions applying for full membership also must:
(a) have goals and purposes consistent with the goals and purposes
of the GSDI Association (set forth in Articles II and III of the Bylaws)
to the satisfaction of a majority of the GSDI Board members, and
(b) agree to pay full membership fees and dues as specified
by the GSDI Association Council.
B. Benefits of Joining the GSDI Association
See the Benefits of Joining GSDI
(pdf) for a summary of the benefits accruing to organizational
(full and associate) and individual members in the GSDI Association.
This document also answers many "frequently asked questions."
C. Dues Table and Sponsorships
Dues are scaled based on approximate ability to pay as set forth
in the table below. The form of the organization and the gross
national income per capita for the nation, determine the amount of

To determine the row under which your nation or organization falls,
consult the National
Income Rankings of the World Bank drawn from the 2005 World
Development Indicators report. International and global
organizations are assumed to fall in the dues paying column
appropriate to their organizational form but in the row of the
national income per capita of the median member of their
organization.
As part of the dues paying process, your organization also may want to
contribute to the developing
nation fund, become a
Developing Nation Sponsor, or become an
GSDI Association Sponsor.
